Bookkeeper/Human Resource Assistant

A Bookkeeper/Human Resource Assistant of Disability Rights South Carolina (DRSC) shall work under the general supervision of the Finance and Human Resource Manager. This position is classified as salaried – nonexempt from overtime pay under federal Department of Labor regulations.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Assist the Finance & Human Resource Manager with the organizations accounting policies and procedures, by reviewing and correctly coding accounts payable, billing and tracking of accounts receivable, and reviewing employee timesheets for accuracy. Prepare check deposits, checks for accounts payable and time reports.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing process. Responsible for updating budget and timesheet reports for analysis and variance reporting. Works with the Finance & Human Resource manager to fully understand operating results and trends.
Responsible for new employee orientation and onboarding to include scheduling appointments with staff, setting up email and network access, assigning DRSC property, such as laptops, cell phones, gas card, etc. and updating personnel staff listings on Common files.
Handles the collection and distribution of employee data related to, among other things, demographics, annual signing of policies and/or procedures, updates and changes to benefits, employee leave administration, and ensures employee files are maintained in accordance with DRSC policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
Perform and maintain inventory of DRSC fixed assets, property, equipment and office supplies (to include cell phones, desktops and laptops). An inventory of DRSC property must be performed every two years and maintained as needed.
Completes required federal and state filings and reporting such as Lobbyist registration with the SC Ethics Commission, Charitable organization filing with SC Secretary of State, federal System of Awards Management (SAM), SC Dept of Labor and Licensing, OSHA, etc.
This position will also be cross trained to assist with and perform administrative duties.
Perform other duties as may be required.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in business, office administration or related field; or Associate degree from an accredited college or technical school in business with concentration in accounting or related field with two years’ applicable experience; or a high school diploma or its equivalent with five years’ applicable experience.

Ability to work with individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds and a demonstrated understanding of the overall organization and relationships among and between service areas and teams.
Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others, maintain confidentiality; and to deal effectively with and negotiate through confrontational situations and stressful interactions.
Knowledge of systems providing services to people with disabilities.
Proficiency in oral and written communication, computer literacy.
Must be able to travel within the state. May be required to travel out-of-state for trainings or conferences.
