Social Security

Introduction

We envision a society where all people, regardless of the type or severity of disability, have access to the benefits they are eligible for.

What We Do

We provide South Carolinian’s who receive Social Security disability benefits or Supplemental Security Income benefits with information about how working may affect their benefits. We assist South Carolinian’s who are having trouble getting Vocational Rehabilitation or other employment-related services needed in order to work or increase work-related earnings. We can provide information about the programs, services and supports available to help you work.

New Rep Payee Program

In partnership with the Social Security Administration, DRSC manages this program designed to increase protection for Social Security beneficiaries who use a Representative Payee. A Representative Payee, also called a Rep Payee, is a person who acts as the receiver of Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income for people who are not fully capable of managing their own benefits. DRSC works to ensure that funds are being used correctly and in the best interest of the beneficiary. This new program provides vital accountability services to protect the rights of SSA recipients.
