South Carolina Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Statewide Transition Plan public comment period
During this period, South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services wants your feedback for the following:
-SCDHHS is submitting a list of setting in the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (SCDDSN) network to CMS for heightened scrutiny review under Category 3, defined as settings that may have the effect of isolating individuals receiving Medicaid HCBS from the broader community of individuals not receiving HCBS
AND
– The final approved South Carolina HCBS Statewide Transition Plan, which has been revised to reflect updated heightened scrutiny settings, numbers, and information.
The comment period is August 23 – October 1. A webinar will be held August 25 at 11:30 a.m. to review the above information. Register Here

Waiver renewal with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the Intellectual Disability and Related Disabilities (ID/RD) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS)
The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) has given notice that it intends to file a waiver renewal with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the Intellectual Disability and Related Disabilities (ID/RD) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver operated through the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (SCDDSN). The proposed effective date of this waiver renewal is Jan. 1, 2022.
Changes in the proposed waiver amendment include:
– Add in-home supports services
– Add independent living skills services
– Add remote supports as part of assistive technology services and much more
Webinars are available for additional information on Tuesday, August 25 at 3pm and August 30 at 11am
Public comments must be received by SCDHHS no later than Sept 25 by 5pm.
